Flexible study options
All OTHM qualifications use the RQF rules are made up of units. This provides flexible ways to get a qualification. Each unit has a credit value which tells you how many credits are awarded when a unit is completed. The credit value also gives an indication of how long it will normally take you to prepare for a unit or qualification. Learners can pursue individual units and slowly build up the whole qualifications.
There are three different types of qualification:
- Award is achieved with 1 – 12 credits
- Certificate is achieved with 13 – 36 credits
- Diploma is achieved with at least 37 credits

Pathway way to a British Degree programme
As OTHM is regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), UK universities recognise OTHM qualifications and allow OTHM graduates to join relevant Bachelor Degree Final year programmes. OTHM holds progression agreement with number UK universities. That means learners can also join relevant programmes offered at Study Centers/Partner Colleges/Overseas Campuses of UK universities.
Affordable cost
OTHM is a not-for-profit organisation and so it endeavours to ensure that its Fees are always as affordable as possible without compromising the quality and standards of its qualifications. It is usually much quicker and cheaper to take an OTHM qualification and then go to university for the final stage of Bachelor Degree top-up programmes, rather than taking a whole programme at the university.
Qualifications
Our qualifications are made up of the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) rules which provide flexible ways to get a qualification. Qualifications at the same level are a similar level of difficulty, but the size and content of the qualifications can vary.
Foundation programmes
The Level 3 qualifications improve subject knowledge and study skills, and prepare learners for undergraduate course at UK universities.
Undergraduate programmes
The Level 4, 5 and 6 diploma qualifications are equivalent to Year 1, 2 and 3 (Final year) respectively of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree. Each level consists of 120 credits. Completing any of the level 4, 5 and 6 qualifications will enable learners a progression to the next level of higher education at UK universities.
The objective of the OTHM Level 3 Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with an in-depth understanding of the operations and structure of businesses.
The qualification will provide learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills associated with business activities. It will prompt research, investigation and review of aspects of business which include Business Communication, The Business Environment, People Management, Customer Service, Finance and Marketing.
The objective of the OTHM Level 3 Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies is to provide learners with a foundation to provide an entry route to UK and international university courses. It is designed to ensure that each learner is equipped with knowledge of study skills, mathematics, computing, society and culture, business and accounting, providing the knowledge and skills to adapt rapidly to change and progress with their learning.
Successful completion of the Level 3 Foundation Diploma for Higher Education Studies provides learners with the opportunity to progress to further study or employment.
The objective of the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with an excellent foundation for building a career in a range of organisations. It is designed to ensure each learner is ‘business ready’: a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of business and management and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change.
The qualification will provide learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills associated with the business activities, policies, procedures and processes required to work effectively in a business environment. The objective of the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Information Technology is to provide a career path for learners who wish to develop a broad base of knowledge and skills that will enable them to work in a variety of roles in the IT industry.
The programme will focus on topics such as cyber security, computer programming, web and mobile applications, computer and network technology, systems analysis and design and managing digital information.
Successful completion of the OTHM Level 4 Diploma in Information Technology will support learners progressing to university, and to provide learners with the requisite skills and knowledge to enter the world of work in their chosen sector.
OTHM Level 5 Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with an excellent foundation for a career in a range of organisations. It designed to ensure that each learner is ‘business ready’: a confident, independent thinker with a detailed knowledge of business and management and equipped with the skills to adapt rapidly to change.
The content of the qualification is focused on human resource management, marketing, management accounting, business law, and business principles and strategy. Learners will also integrate their knowledge and skills from these disciplines and gain knowledge about how to start a business and produce a viable business plan.
The qualification is ideal for those who have started, or are planning to move into, a career in private or public sector business. Successful completion of the Level 5 Diploma in Business Management qualification will provide learners with the opportunity to progress to further study or employment.
OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management qualification is to provide learners with a specialist work-related programme of study that provides a depth of knowledge and understanding of key aspects within the business sector.
Learners will study level 4 and 5 units, worth 120 credits per academic year with a total credit value of 240 credits (equivalent to the first 2 years of an honours degree). All units are mandatory.
The Level 4 units lay the foundations of learning by providing an introduction to contemporary Business topics.
The units combine both theoretical and practical knowledge in the profession and will develop and enhance knowledge and skills in the areas of academic and research skills, business and global operations, finance and accounting, communication, leadership and team working.
The Level 5 units give learners the opportunities to apply key skills and techniques in a variety of relevant occupational areas. The programme of study provides learners with an opportunity to engage with the challenges facing managers, professionals and policy makers in their own country.

The objective of the OTHM Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership qualification is to develop strategic management and leadership skills for managers who have the authority and personal attributes to translate organisational strategy into effective operational performance. This qualification reflects current practice in Strategic Management and Leadership and allows learners to develop and expand their high-level understanding of strategic management and leadership in the workplace. This qualification is suitable for mature learners with a background in academic study or industry. The qualification has a clear work-related emphasis on practical skills development alongside theoretical fundamentals.
Successful completion of the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership qualification will equip learners with the key skills and capabilities to become an effective strategic manager. The qualification also allows learners to progress into or within employment and/or continue their study towards an MBA with advanced standing.
